About WP Writers Group
Hello! I’m Poch. I created this weblog for everything about writing and art in general. Everyone is WELCOME! Essays about life, personal or otherwise, are mostly favored. Anyone interested in submitting a post may notify me. I will not edit any post that I approve and publish. I never and will not take credit for any article I did not write. All beliefs and opinions here are not necessarily my own. New posts from writers are allowed once every two weeks so as not to crowd-out articles from new writers. New posts will probably be published on Saturdays or Sundays only. All writers who submitted voluntarily are considered members. If you feel shy about joining the group, you're welcome to try me as a writing partner. If you don't have a link here but are linked to Plato on-line, you will find your linkback there at the page 'Special Plato on-line Links'. One day, like all my weblogs, I will leave this one to whoever is most worthy :-)EZine Award

What Really is ‘Open Access’
Beware academics. Open access is not freely accessible content. We can read, watch, and listen to open access content but we are usually not allowed to reproduce, sell, or modify it. That is not open access. http://www.cogsci.nl/blog/miscellaneous/192-the-difference-between-freely-accessible-content-and-open-access How Do You … Continue reading

Rethinking How We Teach English
If you search for the the stats about the quality of elementary and high school education in the US, you’ll probably learn that it’s steadily getting worse. Here’s a great reference: https://pochp.wordpress.com/2009/09/23/education-degradation-ii/ Before we belong to the ELITE college grads, … Continue reading

Stories in Movies
Stephen Farber opines that ‘Today’s movies just ain’t what they used to be.’ I tend to believe that. Good movies come from good novels or scripts. As years go by, even bestselling novels are ‘padded’. Meaning: useless words added just … Continue reading
Sarc Mark
A new punctuation character might soon replace the ‘sys rq’ key or any useless one on our keyboards. It’s the Sarc Mark – sarc for sarcasm. Obviously, its use is to make obvious and stress a sarcastic line but it … Continue reading
Sherlock Holmes 2009
Do you know that fans of Sherlock still send fan mails to the fictional (of course) address of the King of Fictional Sleuths at Baker street of London as if he’s alive? From Fletch: ‘The new Sherlock Holmes movie opened … Continue reading

K and K 2009 Rematch
Since I consider Chess as an art (of war), I decided to ‘guest post’ this here. Kasparov and Karpov will renew their rivalry, which started stormy ‘politically’ and personally in 1985, at Spain starting today.
